Note the zeros. There is no shop reserved for SC, EBC or Women of Backward Classes in this notice, but SC and EBC applicants can still apply for the 47 unreserved shops. Under the 35% women reservation, 24 of the 73 shops go to women: UR 16, ST 1, BC 5 and EWS 2.
Two more reservations sit inside the same 73. 1 shop is reserved for a grandchild of a state freedom fighter (2% horizontal reservation). 3 shops are reserved for PwBD candidates, one each for deaf-mute, locomotor and intellectual disability (4% horizontal reservation). You run the fair price shop under your own name, or in the name of your group or society, and the shop is run by its management committee in the case of groups. Think of it as a small local business with a government licence, and decide with that in mind.

If no eligible ST applicant is found, the ST shop goes to an SC applicant. If no eligible EBC applicant is found, it goes to a BC applicant, and the reverse also applies. The vacancy and category may change after final court orders in pending PDS dealer cases, and the selection committee can reject applications.

The first page of the notice prints 1 December 2026 as the end date, but the bold clause on the second page says 30 November 2026. Please treat 30 November 2026 as the safe last date, and aim to post a week early so that a delay in the post office does not cost you the shop. Applications received after the last date will not be considered.
