Is this job real?

Paste a job message, an offer or an "appointment letter" you were sent. We check it for the warning signs official agencies in India warn about, and tell you what to do. Free, and nothing you paste is shared.

Four rules that stop most job frauds

  1. Never pay for a job. Not registration, not a "refundable" deposit, not a kit or training. The National Career Service says: "Jobseekers should not pay fees to employers."
  2. Never share an OTP, PIN or bank login. No employer needs it.
  3. Find the job yourself on the company's own website or careers page, not through the link you were sent.
  4. Jobs abroad: only through an agent licensed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Check the name on emigrate.gov.in, and insist on a work visa, never a tourist visa.

Lost money or shared details already? Call the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 straight away (the sooner, the better the chance of stopping the money), or report at cybercrime.gov.in. Unsure whether a caller is really from the National Career Service? Call its helpline 1514.

Questions people ask

Should I pay a registration fee or security deposit for a job?

No. Genuine employers do not charge job seekers. The National Career Service says: "Jobseekers should not pay fees to employers." Government recruitment exams charge an application fee only on the official portal ending .gov.in or .nic.in, never to a person, an agent or a UPI ID.

Is a part-time job that pays for liking videos or rating hotels real?

This is the task-based part-time job fraud the Home Ministry's Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre has warned about: small paid tasks first, then a demand to deposit more, after which the money is frozen. Do not deposit anything to unlock tasks or earnings.

How do I check a job offer abroad?

Recruitment for work abroad is allowed only through recruiting agents licensed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Check the agent in the list of active recruiting agents on emigrate.gov.in, and insist on an employment visa, never a tourist or visit visa.

What should I do if I have already paid or shared an OTP?

Call the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 at once, or report at cybercrime.gov.in. The sooner you report, the better the chance of stopping the money.
