Job fraud is common in India, and it nearly always ends with a request for money or for your bank details. Here is how to check a job before you share anything.
Genuine employers do not charge job seekers. The government's National Career Service says: "Jobseekers should not pay fees to employers." Do not pay, whatever the amount and however it is described (registration, security deposit, kit, training, refundable). (Government recruitment exams do charge an application fee, but only on the official portal ending .gov.in or .nic.in, never to a person, an agent or a UPI ID.)

In December 2023 the government blocked over 100 websites running it. Do not deposit anything to 'unlock' tasks, earnings or a salary.

The Reserve Bank of India asks the public not to share account login details, OTP or KYC documents with unidentified persons.

Indian Oil, for example, says it posts vacancies only there, never through messages or social media, and that any advertisement asking for a deposit is fake (PIB Fact Check repeated this). No agent can 'set' a government job.

Check the agent's name in the 'List of active RA' on emigrate.gov.in, insist on an employment (work) visa, never a tourist or visit visa, and on a contract signed by the employer. The Ministry warns that illegal agents work through WhatsApp and social media and give little detail of where they are.

The Ministry of External Affairs notes that fraudulent agents usually communicate only through WhatsApp and give little or no detail of their whereabouts. Look the company up yourself (not through the link they sent) before you share documents.

Compare it with what similar jobs on our board actually pay, and ask what the work is, who pays you, and from which company account.
