If you have passed 10th and finished an ITI course, Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Northern Railway has opened 4,651 Act Apprentice training slots for you. The trades include Fitter, Electrician, Welder (Gas & Electric), Mechanic (Diesel), Carpenter and many more, spread over six clusters. This is apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act 1961, not a regular railway job, so read the conditions before you apply.

The slots are provisional and can increase or decrease with the need of the administration. They include the PwBD and Ex-Servicemen slots. The category split differs for every trade, so check the row of your own ITI trade.

Important: if you pick a cluster or unit with no slot for your trade, your application becomes meaningless and is summarily rejected, with no refund of the fee.
You must have passed SSC / Matriculation / 10th class (or its equivalent under the 10+2 system) with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised board. You must also hold an ITI pass in the relevant trade from NCVT or SCVT. Check more 10th pass jobs and ITI jobs.
Qualification is counted as on 6 November 2026. Candidates whose 10th or ITI result is still awaited on that date are not eligible.
The age is counted as on 11 December 2026: you should have completed 15 years and should not have completed 24 years.

An Ex-serviceman needs at least 6 months of service at a stretch. The relaxation does not apply to Ex-servicemen who have already joined Government civil service after using the servicemen status.
You must meet the physical fitness standards of the Apprentices Act 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules 1992. Bring a medical certificate signed by a Government-authorised gazetted doctor, not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State hospital, to Document Verification. PwBD candidates must apply only against slots that match their disability and trade. The notification lists trades for LD, VI and HI candidates; Multiple Disabilities means more than one disability.
The notification says the period of training and stipend will be as per the extant rules applicable. No stipend amount is stated in the notification. No hostel accommodation is given, and no TA/DA or accommodation is given for the selection process. You must make your own arrangements.
Training does not give any right to absorption in the Railway. It is not obligatory for the employer to offer any employment after training, and it is not obligatory for the apprentice to accept one.

If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred. If the date of birth is also the same, the one who passed 10th earlier is considered first. The merit is expected to be displayed in February 2027.
For grading boards, RRC takes the midpoint of the grade range, with each subject out of 100. Add the marks of all subjects, not of any one group. For ITI, the average marks of all semesters in your Provisional National Trade Certificate are used. Enter the marks correctly: if the marks in your form differ from the original mark sheet at verification, your candidature is rejected summarily.
Keep your photograph, signature and thumb impression ready as jpg files of 10 to 50 KB each.
Only one application per candidate is allowed. If you send multiple applications, all are rejected without refund, and no change is allowed after final submission. Certificates must be in English or Hindi, or come with a self-attested translation.

The fee is paid online only, and the transaction charges are borne by the candidate. Cash, cheque, money order, IPO, demand draft and Central Recruitment Fee Stamps are not accepted. If a payment is pending or incomplete, make a fresh transaction.
