The Principal District and Sessions Court, Bengaluru Rural District has invited online applications for 86 posts of Peon (Jawan), Process Server, Copyist-Typist and Typist. These are direct-recruitment court jobs in Karnataka: SSLC pass is the base qualification for Peon and Process Server, while the two typing posts need 2nd PUC or a Commercial Practice diploma, plus typewriting. Pay starts at Rs. 27,000 and goes up to Rs. 67,600 in the scale. If you are looking for Karnataka government jobs close to Bengaluru, this one deserves your full attention.
The court has issued four separate notifications, one per post, all dated 30 September 2026. Applications open on 7 October 2026 and close on 6 November 2026 at 11:59 PM, and the fee must also be paid by that date. This guide from GovtJobsAlert.in covers vacancies, eligibility, age, pay, selection and every condition that can cost you the job. Read it fully before you start, because each post has its own rules.
The recruitment is for the Bengaluru Rural District court unit and is made under the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Ministerial and Other Posts) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2021. Selected candidates come under the National Pension Scheme (NPS).

The category split is different for every post, so check the row for your own post rather than the total.
| Post | Category-wise Vacancies | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| Peon (Jawan) | SC-A 2 / SC-B 2 / SC-C 1 / ST 1 / Cat-1 2 / 2A 6 / 2B 2 / 3A 1 / 3B 1 / GM 18 | 36 |
| Process Server | SC-A 1 / SC-B 1 / SC-C 1 / ST 0 / Cat-1 1 / 2A 4 / 2B 1 / 3A 1 / 3B 2 / GM 12 | 24 |
| Copyist-Typist | SC-A 1 / SC-B 1 / SC-C 1 / ST 0 / Cat-1 1 / 2A 3 / 2B 1 / 3A 1 / 3B 0 / GM 9 | 18 |
| Typist (2 backlog) | SC 1 / 2A 1 – both reserved for low-vision PwD candidates | 2 |
| Typist (6 new) | SC 1 / ST 0 / Cat-1 1 / 2A 0 / 2B 1 / 3A 0 / 3B 0 / GM 3 | 6 |
Please notice the zeros. There is no ST seat for Process Server, Copyist-Typist or Typist, and no Category-3B seat for Copyist-Typist or Typist. Only Peon has a seat for every category. A zero means no reserved seat for your category in that post; it does not bar you from applying. The single SC Group-C seat in each of the first three posts is kept for candidates of the 59 most backward castes of that group; other SC Group-C candidates are considered only if none are available.
Horizontal reservation sits inside the totals above, not on top of them:
| Post | Horizontal Reservation |
|---|---|
| Peon (Jawan) | Women 12, Rural 10, Ex-Serviceman 3, Kannada Medium 1, Project Displaced 1, PwD 1 (locomotor disability), Transgender 1 |
| Process Server | Women 7, Rural 4, Ex-Serviceman 1, PwD 2 (blindness / low vision) |
| Copyist-Typist | Women 4, Rural 4, PwD 1 (blindness / low vision) |
| Typist | Women 3, Rural 2, Kannada Medium 1, PwD 2 (backlog, low vision) |
If no low-vision candidate is available for a Typist backlog seat, candidates of that category with other disabilities, or other eligible candidates of that category, will be considered.
| Post | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Peon (Jawan) | SSLC pass or equivalent, and ability to read and write Kannada |
| Process Server | SSLC pass or equivalent; preference to holders of a motor vehicle driving licence (HMV / LMV) |
| Copyist-Typist | 2nd PUC pass, or 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice, or equivalent; Junior Grade Kannada and English typewriting (Department of Public Instruction) or equivalent; computer knowledge for office work |
| Typist | 2nd PUC pass, or 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice, or equivalent; Senior Grade Kannada and English typewriting (Department of Public Instruction) or equivalent; computer knowledge for office work |
For Peon and Process Server, this is a solid 10th pass government job. The licence for Process Server is a preference, not a must, so do not skip the post just because you do not drive. For the typing posts, the grade matters: Junior Grade fits Copyist-Typist, but Typist asks for Senior Grade in both languages.
Minimum age is 18 years. Age is counted on 6 November 2026, the last date for applications.
| Category | Maximum Age |
|---|---|
| General Merit | 35 + 5 = 40 years |
| Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B | 38 + 5 = 43 years |
| SC, ST, Category-1 | 40 + 5 = 45 years |

The extra 5 years is a one-time relaxation for all categories under Government Order DPAR 262 SENENI 2025 dated 29.01.2026, and it is already added above. Government servants, widows, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities get further relaxation as per the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.

Selected candidates join the National Pension Scheme. During the 2-year probation, Copyist-Typist and Typist staff must also pass the departmental exams for the post, the Kannada language exam and the Computer Literacy exam.
| Post | Stage | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Peon (Jawan) | Call for interview | 1 post : 10 candidates, on the percentage of marks in SSLC |
| Peon (Jawan) | Interview | 10 marks; final list in order of interview marks |
| Process Server | Call for interview | 1 post : 25 candidates, on the percentage of marks in SSLC |
| Process Server | Interview | 10 marks; final list in order of interview marks |
| Copyist-Typist & Typist | Skill test | 15-minute Kannada and English dictation typed on a computer; 100 marks each, minimum 50 in each to pass |
| Copyist-Typist & Typist | Interview | 1:5 ratio as per reservation; marks are 5% of the qualifying test’s maximum |
For Peon and Process Server, a tie in interview marks goes to the older candidate. For the typing posts, the final list adds your qualifying exam percentage, your skill test percentage and your interview marks. Since SSLC or PUC marks help decide who gets called, enter them exactly. Practise typing from dictation in both languages; you can also look at our syllabus and exam pattern guides while you prepare.
