If you are an engineering student who wants real exposure to Defence research before you graduate, this one is worth your evening. The Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), a DRDO laboratory under the Ministry of Defence, has invited applications for a six-month paid internship with 8 slots in Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics and Electrical Engineering. The places are at DIPAS, Delhi and DIBER, Haldwani.
The interns get a fixed stipend of ₹5,000 per month, and the internship counts as part of the degree course. You apply by email only, and the last date is 15 November 2026. Read the eligibility lines slowly, because a single backlog can end your application. GovtJobsAlert.in has put every condition from the advertisement in simple words below, along with more Defence jobs for you.
| Detail | Information |

The slots differ by location, so look at the row for your own branch before you plan anything. The notification gives no category-wise split, and the total of 8 is the sum of this table.

| Computer Science Engineering | DIPAS Delhi 1 / DIBER Haldwani 0 | 1 |

| Condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Nationality | Indian nationals only |
| B.Tech. / B.E. students | Full-time course, with 3rd year / 6th semester completed or going to be completed by December 2026 |
| M.Tech. / M.Sc. (Electronics) students | Full-time course, with 1st year / 2nd semester completed or going to be completed by December 2026 |
| Backlogs | Students with a backlog (failed paper) in any previous semester are NOT eligible |
The advertisement opens by saying the scheme is for final-year B.E. / B.Tech and M.E. / M.Tech students, while the eligibility clause says M.Tech. / M.Sc. (Electronics). The notification does not reconcile the two, so if you are a postgraduate student outside Electronics, check the official notification page before you apply.
No minimum CGPA or percentage is stated, but the form asks for your CGPA (on a scale of 10) or marks percentage, and a copy of your mark sheets must be attached. If you are looking for more openings for engineering graduates, keep that page bookmarked. No age limit, experience requirement or category reservation is mentioned in the notification.
The stipend is a fixed ₹5,000 per month, which makes ₹30,000 for the full six months. It is not paid monthly. It comes in two equal instalments, directly into your bank account.
| Instalment | Amount and Condition |
|---|---|
| First | ₹15,000 after successful completion of 3 months |
| Second | ₹15,000 after successful completion of 6 months |
Both payments are based on technical evaluation. You must also be present in the office for training for at least 15 days in a month, and an intern who does not complete the required period will not be issued any certificate. Lodging, boarding, transport and medical expenses, if any, are borne by the student. So plan your Delhi or Haldwani stay and its cost before you say yes.
The notification says selection will be based entirely on merit. It does not describe a written test, an interview or any scoring method, so do not prepare for one on the basis of rumours.
This application is sent by email only. There is no online portal, no registration and nothing to submit on a website. The prescribed format (Appendix-A) is printed in the advertisement itself, and the official notification page is linked in Essential Links below.
Applications submitted by hand or sent through Indian Post will not be considered. Only email applications are accepted. An incomplete or wrong application, or one that arrives after the due date, is rejected, and no further communication will be entertained. Keep your branch name clearly in the email, because the advertisement asks for it.
