Wildlife and marine biology graduates, this one is for you. Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University (BKNMU), Junagadh, has announced 8 project-based posts at its Centre of Excellence for Wildlife and Conservation Studies. The posts are Senior Research Fellow, Junior Research Fellow, Field Assistant and Project Assistant, with fixed pay from ₹20,000 to ₹42,000 a month. Work is in the Gujarat coastal region around Jamnagar.
You must fill an online registration form at least 24 hours before the interview, then walk in on 28 October 2026 with your documents. Please read the whole article, because the venue is not the university and a missed registration can cost you the chance.
The Centre of Excellence for Wildlife and Conservation Studies runs research projects in the Marine National Park and Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary, Jamnagar. Every post below is purely temporary, contractual and project-based.

The notification gives no category-wise split, only seats per post.
| Post | Vacancies | Project Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Senior Research Fellow (SRF) | 1 | 9 months |
| Junior Research Fellow – A9 (JRF) | 2 | 9 months |
| Field Assistant | 2 | 9 months |
| Junior Research Fellow – B12 (JRF) | 2 | 12 months |
| Project Assistant | 1 | 6 months |
The A9 and B12 JRF posts are two different projects. B12 is the marine turtle nesting project, so pick the one that matches your degree and interest.
The A9 project covers environmental and ecological monitoring in Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary. The Project Assistant post is for the bird census and biodiversity assessment of the same sanctuary. If birds, turtles or climate monitoring is your strength, say so clearly in the interview, because each project looks for a different skill set.
| Post | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Senior Research Fellow | M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Botany, Zoology, Forestry, Life Science or allied subjects, AND minimum 2 years of research experience in relevant fields |
| JRF – A9 | M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Wildlife Sciences, Geology, Botany, Zoology, Forestry, Life Science or allied subjects. Desirable: knowledge of climate and weather monitoring |
| JRF – B12 | M.Sc. in Wildlife Sciences, Zoology, Marine Science, Environmental Science, Life Science or allied subjects. Desirable: knowledge of marine biology |
| Project Assistant | M.Sc. in Wildlife Sciences, Zoology, Environmental Science, Life Science or allied subjects. Desirable: knowledge of avian biology |
| Field Assistant | B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Wildlife Sciences, Geology, Botany, Zoology, Forestry, Life Science or allied subjects |
Only the SRF post asks for experience as an essential condition. For the other posts, “desirable” knowledge is a plus, not a bar. The notification states no age limit, though the form asks for date of birth and its proof. Field Assistant is the one post open to a B.Sc. holder, so see more graduate jobs and post graduate jobs if you want to compare.
| Post | Fixed Monthly Remuneration |
|---|---|
| Senior Research Fellow | ₹42,000 |
| Junior Research Fellow (A9 and B12) | ₹35,000 |
| Project Assistant | ₹30,000 |
| Field Assistant | ₹20,000 |
The pay is fixed and consolidated. The notification says no additional allowances or benefits will be admissible, and no Travel Allowance or Daily Allowance is given for attending the interview. Budget your travel to Jamnagar yourself.
The SRF pay is the highest, but it also needs two years of research experience. A fresh M.Sc. graduate should look at the JRF or Project Assistant posts first. Because the amount is consolidated, check whether the contract length suits you before you travel, since the shortest project runs only 6 months.
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Registration | Online Google Form, at least 24 hours before the interview |
| Reporting and verification | Report 30 minutes before the interview, by 10:00 AM, for registration and document check |
| Walk-in interview | 28 October 2026, 10:30 AM |
The notification names only the walk-in interview and document verification. It does not describe a written test or a marking scheme, so prepare your project experience, field skills and publications for the interview. Keep in mind that the jobs are co-terminus with the project and subject to availability of project funds, so the contract ends when the project does.
The application format asks for publications, seminars and workshops attended, training, and experience with proof, so collect certificates and printed papers before you leave home. Papers that are in press or accepted are also considered, as the document checklist notes.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Online registration | At least 24 hours before the interview (27 October 2026, 10:30 AM at the latest) |
| Reporting time | 10:00 AM, 28 October 2026 |
| Walk-in interview | 28 October 2026, 10:30 AM |
The PDF does not give a separate registration start date or a notification date. Do not leave the form for the last hour, because the 24-hour rule is a firm condition.
Since the reporting time is 10:00 AM, plan to reach Jamnagar the day before if you are coming from far away. The notification says nothing about a second round or a result date, so keep checking the official website after the interview.
The notification does not mention any application fee.
This is a register-then-walk-in process. Registration alone is not enough, and walking in without registering is not allowed.
| Step | Action |

Carry proof of date of birth, category certificate, degree and mark sheets, and experience certificates, because the notification asks for originals with one set of photocopies.
