Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Proficient experience with IBM (SSS 6000), Ceph on Lenovo ThinkSystem SR665, Dell Unity 600, Dell Unity 450F, VNX 5600, Isilon, and VPLEX VS6 storage systems.
  • Knowledge of storage protocols and technologies, including SAN and NAS.
  • Familiarity with storage virtualization and data deduplication.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as Dell EMC Proven Professional or equivalent are a plus.

Responsibilities:

1. Storage Administration:

  • Configure, maintain, and optimize Ceph based storage, IBM (SSS 6000), Dell Unity 600, Dell Unity 450F, VNX 5600, Isilon, and VPLEX VS6 storage systems.
  • Perform routine storage provisioning and allocation tasks.

2. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Monitor storage performance and respond to alerts to ensure optimal operation.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance storage efficiency and performance.

3. Data Protection and Disaster Recovery:

  • Establish and maintain data protection strategies, including backups and replication.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

4. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve storage-related problems promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members to address complex storage issues.

5. Capacity Planning:

  • Assess storage capacity needs and recommend scaling or upgrades as necessary.
  • Monitor storage utilization trends and plan for future storage requirements.

6. Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Keep records of changes made to storage environments.

7. Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other IT teams, including networking, virtualization, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration of storage solutions with broader IT infrastructure.

8. Vendor Interaction:

  • Communicate with IBM, Lenovo, Dell vendors for technical support, hardware replacements, and firmware updates.
