Job Description - Microsoft Fabric Platform Engineer (CI/CD)

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Fabric Platform Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-grade CI/CD processes, platform governance, and deployment automation within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Azure DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), release management, and Microsoft Fabric platform administration to enable scalable, secure, and efficient data platform operations

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Administration

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Fabric tenant, workspaces, capacities, and platform configurations.
  • Implement and manage platform governance, security, and compliance controls.
  • Establish best practices for workspace organization, environment management, and deployment standards.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and utilization to ensure optimal operations.

CI/CD & DevOps

  • Design and implement end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for Microsoft Fabric artifacts including:
    • Data Pipelines
    • Lakehouses
    • Warehouses
    • Notebooks
    • Semantic Models
    • Reports
  • Configure Git integration and source control management for Fabric workspaces.

Automate deployment processes across Development, Test, UAT, and Production environments.

Skill Requirements

  • Implement branching, version control, release management, and rollback strategies.
  • Develop reusable deployment templates and automation frameworks.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Utilize Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, or similar tools for environment provisioning and configuration management.
  • Automate Fabric and Azure resource deployments.
  • Standardize environment creation and platform onboarding processes.

Security & Governance

  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and workspace security standards.
  • Configure and manage integration with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Support data governance initiatives, auditing, monitoring, and compliance requirements.
  • Establish deployment approval workflows and change management processes.

Monitoring & Support

  • Develop operational monitoring dashboards and alerting mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot deployment, connectivity, and platform-related issues.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, BI Developers, and Business stakeholders to resolve environment and deployment challenges.
  • Support platform upgrades, feature rollouts, and capacity management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Fabric or Power BI platform administration.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Azure DevOps
    • Git/GitHub
    • YAML Pipelines
    • CI/CD implementation
    • Release Management
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services including:
    • Azure Data Factory
    • Azure Storage
    • Azure Key Vault
    • Azure Monitor
    • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Strong scripting skills using PowerShell, Python, or similar automation tools.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
