Five subjects carry the bulk of the hiring: Hindi (2,791), Science (2,493), Social Science (2,482), English (2,517) and Mathematics (2,349). If your degree fits more than one subject, compare the seats and the competition before you choose, because you can apply for a subject only once per category. Look at your own subject row first. Agriculture has only 1 seat in girls’ schools, and Ranjan Kala has no SC seat there. ST seats exist in just a few subjects.
Every post needs a subject degree, a B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised course (Physical Education needs B.P.Ed. or B.P.E. instead), and a pass in the UP Government or Government of India TET for the upper primary level (classes 6 to 8). No experience is required. In the table below, TET means that upper primary TET. You can browse more graduate government jobs and teaching jobs on our site.

| Detail | Age |
|---|---|
| Minimum Age | 21 years |
| Maximum Age | 62 years |
| Age counted as on | 1 July 2026 |
| Category-wise relaxation | Not stated in the notice |
Because the notice sets one ceiling of 62 years for everyone, experienced graduates who also hold a B.Ed. and TET can apply, not only fresh candidates. Only the date of birth on the High School (or equivalent) certificate is accepted. An application with no date of birth, or with age above 62 on 1 July 2026, is not accepted.

Ranking is based on written exam marks alone. Check the syllabus on the UPESSC website and use it to plan your preparation.
| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Written Exam | 120 MCQs, 360 marks, 2 hours, OMR sheet |
| Tie-break | Higher graduation percentage, then higher training (B.Ed. etc.) percentage, then the older candidate |
| Document Verification | For shortlisted candidates; at least 10 days’ notice by SMS, e-mail, newspaper or website |
| Medical Fitness | Certificate from a medical officer of a government hospital or PHC before final appointment |
| School Allotment | Done by the Director, Secondary Education, UP, Prayagraj |
| Exam Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Paper | General Knowledge 30 questions + concerned subject 90 questions |
| Marking | +3 for a correct answer; -1 for a wrong or multiple answer |
| Language | Hindi and English (except language subjects) |
| Qualifying marks | Not stated in the notice |
Of the 120 questions, 90 come from your own subject, so subject marks (270 of 360) decide your rank. Spend most of your time there, and keep the GK section for the last weeks. Practise with the previous year papers of similar teacher exams to build speed, because a wrong answer costs 1 mark.
You must write the exam at the centre and subject on your admit card, or your answer sheet will not be checked and your candidature is cancelled. Using an eraser, blade or whitener on the OMR sheet cancels the sheet. Passing the exam alone does not give a right to appointment.
Keep ready a photo, and a signature on a white background (JPG, 10 to 100 KB each), your documents as PDF (20 to 200 KB), your High School certificate and your TET certificate.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the UPESSC portal from Essential Links and complete One Time Registration (OTR) first. It is compulsory, and your application will not go through without it |
| 2 | Note the registration details the portal gives you |
| 3 | Open the online application for the Assistant Teacher (Graduate Scale) post, choose your subject, and choose boys’ or girls’ schools |
| 4 | Fill the form in English only, upload photo, signature and documents, and accept the declaration |
| 5 | Submit. Category, sub-category, date of birth and gender cannot be changed after final submission |
| 6 | Pay the fee online by 23 November 2026. It counts only after the bank confirms it |
| 7 | Make corrections, if needed, by 26 November 2026. Keep the receipt and confirmation page of both steps |
| 8 | Take 3 printouts. Two go with your documents at verification |
The website carries a Hindi and English user manual and tutorial videos. Watch them before you start, because category, date of birth and gender cannot be changed after final submission. If you finish OTR and payment but do not complete the application by the last date, it is not valid. Bring two sets of self-attested copies and the originals to verification: High School, Intermediate, graduation, B.Ed. and TET papers, plus the Appendix 6 affidavit.
