Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Maharatna defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, opened that door with 120 vacancies for Design Trainee (DT) and Management Trainee (MT) posts, with a basic pay of ₹50,000 per month during training and the ₹50,000 – ₹1,60,000 Engineer Grade-II scale after absorption. The money starts from day one of training — you are not an unpaid apprentice here.
Trainees undergo 52 weeks of training and, on successful completion, are absorbed as Engineers in the Grade-II scale.
After absorption you also get cafeteria-system perks and allowances, company accommodation or HRA, Performance Related Pay, medical facilities, Provident Fund, gratuity and other superannuation benefits. Selected candidates sign a service agreement bond to serve HAL for 5 years (excluding training); breaking it means reimbursing training expenses up to ₹15,00,000.
Selection runs in five stages, and the final merit list gives 85% weightage to the online test and 15% to the interview.

The application window closed on 14 August 2026; these steps are kept for reference only. Applications were online only and needed an e-mail ID active through the process, a colour passport size photograph (JPG, under 180 KB), Aadhaar number, semester-wise marks and employment details if any.
Also: only Indian nationals were eligible, candidates chose three preferred test cities with no later change, and an original photo ID (a college ID needed a copy attested by a Gazetted Officer) had to be shown to the invigilator to appear for the Online Selection Test.
