The Border Security Force (BSF) Medical Directorate has advertised 34 Sub-Inspector posts in its paramedical set-up: SI (Medic), SI (Lab Technician) and SI (Physiotherapist). All three sit at Pay Matrix Level 6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400). Please read this first: these posts are filled ONLY on deputation. This is not an open recruitment for freshers or private-sector candidates. If you follow defence and CAPF jobs, share this with colleagues who are already in government service.
Only serving officers of the CAPFs, the Central Government, a State Government or a UT Administration can be considered, and only when their own department forwards the nomination. The advertisement appeared in Employment News dated 10–16 October 2026, and nominations must reach BSF by the 60th day from that publication. BSF has not printed a calendar date, so confirm the exact deadline with your office. This guide from GovtJobsAlert.in covers every condition.
The posts are Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) (Combatised) posts in the BSF Medical Set-up, under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The notification does not give a category-wise split for any post, so do not expect separate UR, OBC, SC or ST counts. The SI (Medic) post has the most seats, so serving Nursing Assistants have the widest opening here.
You must be an officer of the Central Armed Police Forces, the Central Government, a State Government or a UT Administration, and meet ONE of these:
| Route | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Route (i) | Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department |
| Route (ii) | Six years of regular service in Level 5 (₹29,200 – ₹92,300) in the pay matrix in your parent cadre or department |
On top of this, you must hold the trade qualification and experience for your post, and you shall be medically fit.
In simple words, an analogous post is a post at the same level, with similar duties, that you already hold on a regular basis in your own department. If you are not at that level yet, Route (ii) still opens the door, provided you have completed six years of regular service at Level 5. Check with your establishment section which route applies to you before you start the paperwork.
| Post | Requirement |
|---|---|
| SI (Medic) | Basic Nursing Assistant or Medic Course AND Advance Nursing Assistant or Advance Medic Course AND at least six years’ experience as Nursing Assistant in a hundred-bedded hospital or institute recognised by the Central or a State Government, or in CAPF hospitals |
| SI (Lab Technician) | 12th pass from a recognised Board AND a two-year Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician or Technology from an institution recognised by the Central or a State Government AND at least six years’ experience as Laboratory Technician in a laboratory diagnostic centre, a hospital of at least a hundred beds, or a recognised institution |
| SI (Physiotherapist) | 12th pass from a recognised Board AND a two-year Diploma in Physiotherapy from an institute recognised by the Central or a State Government AND at least six years’ experience as Physiotherapist in a physiotherapy centre, a hospital of at least a hundred beds, or a recognised institute |
Notice the word AND in every row. Your diploma alone is not enough; the six years of hands-on experience is equally essential. Preference will be given to candidates holding a certificate or diploma in the trade from a recognised institute. This is a good match for staff already working in medical and healthcare government jobs, and the Lab Technician and Physiotherapist posts both build on a 12th pass base.
| Category | Maximum Age |
|---|---|
| All deputation candidates | Not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications |
🎂 Not sure if you meet the age criteria? Use our free Age Calculator for Government Exams to find your exact age on the cut-off date and instantly check your eligibility — including any age relaxation you qualify for. →
Because the closing date is the 60th day after publication, count your age on that date, not on the day you fill the form. The notification does not mention any age relaxation.
Read every line carefully. Each one can stop your nomination or end your deputation.
| Condition | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Feeder-category officers | Departmental officers in the feeder category who are in the direct line of promotion shall not be eligible for appointment on deputation |
| Deputationists and promotion | Deputationists shall not be eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion |
| Direct applications | Applications received directly from candidates will not be entertained — only nominations through proper channel |
| No withdrawal | Officials who volunteer and are sponsored will not be permitted to withdraw their names at a later stage |
| Period of deputation | Including any immediately preceding ex-cadre deputation, it shall not ordinarily exceed three years |
| No extra rights | Deputation gives no right to claim seniority, pay and allowances or other benefits over others; seniority stays in your original cadre |
| No right to absorption | You have no inherent right to absorption; that discretion rests solely with BSF |
| Premature repatriation | For unsuitability, indiscipline, exigency of service or other reasons, you can be sent back to your parent cadre after three months’ advance notice |
| Clean record certificate | Your department must certify no disciplinary or vigilance case is pending or contemplated, integrity beyond doubt, and no major or minor penalty in the last 10 years |
| Relieving | Your department must confirm it will relieve you if selected |
| Medical fitness | You shall be medically fit; a copy of your health card goes with the application |
| Eligibility date | Eligibility is judged on the last date prescribed for receipt of nominations |
The three-year limit and the lack of any right to absorption mean this is a tour of duty, not a permanent move. Plan for going back to your parent cadre, where your seniority and promotion continue to be counted.
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pay Matrix Level | Level 6 |
| Pay scale | ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 |
| Pay on deputation | Governed by DoP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay II) dated 17.06.2010 and MHA (Police-II Division) letter No. I-21022/03/2016-Pers-II dated 22.11.2016, as amended |
Since you are already in service, your terms during deputation are governed by these orders. Check with your accounts section before you apply.
The notification does not set out any test or stage. Nominations are forwarded by the parent departments and considered by BSF against the eligibility conditions, with preference to candidates holding a certificate or diploma in the trade. Your APARs of the last five years and the employer’s certificate go with the nomination, so a clean record matters. The notification is also available on the BSF website.
There is no online form for these posts. The application is forwarded through your department.
Start the internal paperwork early. Forwarding through proper channel takes time, and only a nomination from your department is accepted.
