There are 32,388 School Teacher vacancies in government schools under the Education Department, Bihar, from Class 1 right up to Class 12. Pay starts at ₹25,000 for primary teachers and goes to a basic pay of ₹32,000 per month for Higher Secondary teachers. Some subjects are listed but have no vacancy yet: Class 9-10 Bangla, Fine Arts, Dance, Maithili, Special School Teacher, Arabic, Persian, and Class 11-12 Bangla, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic, Persian. Their seats will be notified after a supplementary requisition. The vacancy count may go up or down if the department changes its requisition. District-wise vacancies are only on the BPSC website.
You must be an Indian citizen, hold the NCTE-prescribed qualification (RCI for special education) and have passed the TET for your class. Most routes need 50% marks (45% under the older NCTE norms). Many routes open up for a graduate with B.Ed., and for PG holders at Class 11-12.

Subject rules matter a lot. A language teacher must have studied that language at graduation (Class 1-5 Urdu / Bangla also accept Inter with 50%; Urdu also Maulvi / Alim). Class 6-8 Social Science needs any two of the listed social science subjects, and Maths & Science needs any two of Maths, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. SC, ST, EBC, BC and Divyang candidates get 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks. Teachers appointed before 2012 who passed the competency test do not need TET.
Minimum age is counted on 01.08.2026. Maximum age is counted on 01.08.2024, as the notification says.

Each question has five options (A to E); option E means “not attempting” and you must mark one. There is 1/3 negative marking for every wrong answer and for every question left with no option marked. The language part needs at least 30% to qualify. There is no re-evaluation.

Merit for Class 1-5 uses Part-II marks; for other classes it uses Part-II + Part-III. Guest teachers get 5 marks per year of service (max 25) for the Higher Secondary post, subject to a pending court case. If you apply for more than one class, you get a result only in your highest-priority class where you succeed, and your lower choices become void.
