The Directorate of Agriculture at Haddo, Sri Vijaya Puram is filling these posts in various zones under the Department of Agriculture.
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Organisation | Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration |
| Posts | Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Engineering Assistant, Agriculture Assistant |
| Total Vacancies | 10 |
| Pay | Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) / Level-5 (₹29,200 – ₹92,300) |
| Application Mode | Online only |
| Apply Online | 24 September 2026 to 23 October 2026 |
| Selection | CBT + Certificate / Document Verification |
| Job Location | Various zones, Andaman & Nicobar Islands |
The reservation split is different for each post, so look at the row for your own post, not just the total.
| Post (Group, Pay Level) | Category-wise Vacancies | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Agriculture Officer (B NG, Level-6) | UR 1 / ST 0 / OBC 0 / EWS 0 | 1 |
| Agriculture Engineering Assistant (B NG, Level-6) | UR 1 / ST 0 / OBC 1 / EWS 0 | 2 |
| Agriculture Assistant (C, Level-5) | UR 5 / ST 0 / OBC 2 / EWS 0 (MSP 1 within the 7) | 7 |
| Total | UR 7 / OBC 3 / MSP 1 | 10 |
No seat in any post is reserved for ST, EWS, PwDs or ESM this time. The single Agriculture Officer seat is Unreserved, so every eligible candidate competes for that one post on merit. The MSP (Meritorious Sports Person) seat in Agriculture Assistant is horizontal, so it sits inside the 7, not on top of it. The department also says the number of vacancies is tentative and may go up or down.
What does this mean for you? Agriculture Assistant has the most seats by far, so if you hold a Bachelor’s in Agriculture or Horticulture, that is your best chance. Local OBC candidates should note that 3 of the 10 seats are reserved for them, which is a real advantage on a recruitment this small.
You must be an Indian citizen. You may apply for one or more posts in order of preference, as long as you meet the essential qualification of each.
| Post | Essential Qualification | Desirable |
|---|---|---|
| Agriculture Officer | Master Degree in Agriculture / Horticulture from a recognized university or equivalent | 2 years’ experience in farm management, extension, plant protection, agriculture marketing or plantation development |
| Agriculture Engineering Assistant | Degree in Agriculture Engineering from a recognized University / Board plus Training in Soil and Water Conservation Work from a recognized Institute | 2 years’ experience in minor irrigation or farm mechanization |
| Agriculture Assistant | Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture / Horticulture from a recognized university or equivalent | 2 years’ experience in farm management and extension; knowledge to read and write Hindi |
Experience is only desirable, not essential, so freshers can apply. For Agriculture Engineering Assistant, the soil and water conservation training is a separate essential requirement — the degree alone is not enough. Officer needs a post graduate degree, while Assistant is open to graduates.
Age is counted on the closing date, 23 October 2026. Only the date of birth on your 10th pass certificate or birth certificate is accepted.

| Stage | Detail |
|---|---|
| Computer Based Test (CBT) | Objective MCQ exam at South Andaman; date to be told by SMS / email |
| Certificate / Document Verification | In person, with originals and printed online form |
| Final selection | On total marks in the CBT, subject to meeting the Recruitment Rules |
| Part | Questions / Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| I — General Studies | 30 / 30 | Single paper, one sitting |
| II — Subject Paper (post-wise) | 100 / 100 | Single paper, one sitting |
| Both parts together | One hundred thirty questions, one mark each | 120 minutes (+40 minutes for VH / Cerebral Palsy) |
There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer, so do not guess blindly. The paper is in English and Hindi. Authorities can fix minimum qualifying marks at their discretion, and there is no re-evaluation of answer sheets. On a tie, the older candidate ranks first, then alphabetical order of first name. General Studies covers reasoning, English and general awareness; the subject paper follows your post’s syllabus. Check our syllabus and exam pattern section while preparing.
A simple plan works best: revise your core degree subjects first, because the subject paper carries 100 of the 130 marks. Then give one hour a day to reasoning, English and current affairs. Solve timed mock tests so you finish 130 questions in 120 minutes without rushing.
Keep your photo (20-50 KB, 200×230, jpg/jpeg, plain white or off-white background), signature (10-20 KB, 140×60, jpeg), and certificates (100-500 KB each) ready before you start.
Applications by post, hand or email are not accepted. Once submitted, no change or correction, including category, is allowed — so check every field before you click submit. Keep your Employment Exchange card, ST/OBC certificate and NOC (if departmental) ready; a missing category certificate moves you to the General category.
